Field of Flags
The Field of Flags came to First Baptist Church, 1216 Main Street in Holden, during the month of May. There were of flags displayed on the front lawn of the church. One flag for every service person killed in the war in Afghanistan and in Iraq. The Field of Flags is not a political statement. The Field of Flags is a statement of honor and respect for those who have given their lives out of love and dedication. We honor those who have paid the ultimate price for their service.
The Field of Flags was dedicated on Sunday, October 23, 2005 at the Somers Congregational Church in Somers, Connecticut. Since the fall of 2005, the flags have flown at churches up and down the east coast. Last year the Field of Flags was on display at different churches in Westborough, Oxford, Marlborough and Milford, Massachusetts.
The Field of Flags is NOT a politcal statement. It is a visible, silent, patriotic reminder of the sacrifice of our honored war dead.
